First things first. Avid horse racing fan Babs Keating was not specifically talking about Cork when he used that unfortunate metaphor about donkeys not winning derbies before the 1990 Munster final … it’s just that’s how his words were manipulated to suit the narrative.
Then again, isn’t this always the way with fabled rivalries? Sometimes it’s not the on-field action that survives the memory test, but the mythology.
